Jean Lafon

Jean Lafon was a painter of landscapes and coastal views evoking in paint the poetry of the Côte d'Azur coastline.

 

He was particularly adept at capturing the atmosphere of the late afternoon and evening sun, often viewed contre-jour.

 

His compositions typically feature rocky outcrops and dramatically twisted pine trees silhouetted against a balmy, coruscating sea.

 

Lafon also painted coastal views by moonlight.
